Super Insulated panels
Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are prefabricated building components that consist of a sandwich of two outer layers (typically oriented strand board or OSB) and a core of insulation material. The primary purpose of SIPs is to provide both structural support and high levels of thermal insulation. They are used in various construction applications, including walls, roofs, and floors.
Here are some key points related to SIPs and their thickness:
- Thickness Variations:
- SIPs come in various thicknesses to meet specific structural and insulation requirements. Common thicknesses range from around 4 inches (approximately 102 mm) to 12 inches (approximately 305 mm) or more. The thickness chosen for a particular project depends on factors such as local building codes, climate conditions, and energy efficiency goals. We have used SIPs with 142mm and 172mm thickness.
- Benefits of SIPs:
- SIPs offer several benefits, including energy efficiency, quick installation, and structural strength. The insulation properties of SIPs contribute to reduced energy consumption for heating and cooling, making them a popular choice in green and energy-efficient building practices.
- Customization:
- SIPs can be customized based on the specific requirements of a project. The choice of thickness, along with the type of insulation material used in the core, can be tailored to achieve the desired level of thermal performance and structural integrity.
