Listed cottage extension in South Devon
This beautiful Listed Cottage Extension in the South Hams was achieved through careful consultation with the planning department and conservation officer. An assessment of the age and significance of different parts of the house ascertained that one end had been re-built and extended in the 1960’s. This meant that those parts of the house held lower historic significance and provided the perfect position for the new contemporary garden room extension. The extension is designed to create a strong link to the landscape, with the brief of being able to feel like you are sitting in the garden throughout the year.
A demonstration of how a good assessment of the Significance of a Listed Building can make a real difference to the likelihood of success when making alterations or adding an extension.
