A challenging brief to create a garden room that connected with the landscape, whilst linking well to the existing house, lead to an innovative form for this extension. The new build links seamlessly to the existing pitched roof of the garage and sits well against the traditional form of the existing house. A hybrid timber frame will be used for the construction; oak combined with steel beams to create the large openings between the new and existing form.
Again we used hand drawings as part of the planning application, which helped to communicate the large extension form as well as possible. We believe this helps those viewing the proposals to understand the design more easily and therefore reduces the number of objections from neighbours and consutees.
