The terrace of three townhouses at 38-40 Southernhay, Exeter, currently used for offices, were constructed around 200 years ago. However, the conversion back to their residential use along with a first floor rear extension and additional townhouse at the rear with a contemporary fibre cement cladding, will see the properties benefit from a sensitive refurbishment programme, with careful restoration ensuring their historical importance and giving them a new lease of life. The team were able to gain planning permission for this by creating a diverse mix of use, incorporating offices, a restaurant, a flat and the new townhouse. This project is a large success for Living Space and we hope it will set the tone for more restorations to follow.
